Through our Guaranteed Basic Income pilot, we provide funding to individuals and collectives who are exploring and building on ideas that will advance participatory democracy and social justice in the African Diaspora. Our pilot is an opportunity to research how the GBI model can be used to transform philanthropy and to invest directly into community changemakers on the ground.

We provide mentorship, capacity building, leadership development, and most importantly a community of practice so that recipients are empowered with the holistic support they need to thrive. We also partner with other Black-led organizations who can provide field/subject-specific mentorship and technical assistance, creating a network that helps transfer knowledge.

We work to elevate the voices of the leaders on the ground in Black communities who are building democratic futures for our world. The nonprofit industrial complex has created artificial competition which encourages idea, information and resource hoarding. As we work to build an ecosystem where transformative ideas can thrive, we will foster collective dreaming, collaborative learning, critical reflection and sharing experiences.
